CAJUN ENCOUNTERS

Steve and I had a little getaway recently to New Orleans. He had a laminated beam convention there so off we went. We flew into Houston, rented a convertible and made our way along the coast to New Orleans. We ate some really good food, enjoyed the warm weather and even managed to put the top down four times. (due to rain) We stayed two nights at the Ritz-Carlton, (thought I'd died and gone straight to HEAVEN!) and then we traveled around Louisiana, Mississippi and back to Houston, via the Johnson Space Center. (so interesting) Here are a few pictures for you to see. The highlight of the week was a trip into the swamps of Louisiana. Oh my gosh, I thought the voodoo queen would appear any minute! It was most interesting but a little eerie, so far from actual LAND! Of course, we saw alligators, below is BRUTUS. He is the Casanova of the swamp we were in. He had just surfaced that day after being under the mud, etc. all winter. He enjoyed marshmellows and came way too close to the boat for my comfort! Pretty amazing. Never in my life did I think a Vermont farm girl would be seeing the swamps of Louisiana. A great week and lovely time celebrating our 32nd anniversary. Thanks Steve for taking me instead of David! HA HA! Brutus
